Abstract: This farm practice was carried out at the backyard piggery project of Mr. Feliciano Rollan of Buna Lejos, Indang, Cavite. The project aimed primarily at reducing the feed cost for hog fatteners by supplementing commercial hog mash with banana rejects. The hogs were acquired through a loan from the AEOP which served as student’s capital. Results showed that hogs fed with mash and supplemented with banana rejects grew efficiently. After 120 days the two animals gained a total weight of 140.21 or an average of 70.12 kilograms. The total expenses of the project amounted to P3, 641.80. The total gross return from two hogs including the value of seven empty feed bags amounted to P3, 953.88, giving a net profit of P312.08 for the project. Banana rejects therefore are very good supplementary feed for hog fatteners and can cut down to some extent the cost of feeding.
