Includes bibliographical references.
College of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Natural Resources (CAFENR)
The author had her farm practice training at Kaytambog, Indang, Cavite from August 1985 to February 1986, This was done to enable the SOA to put into actual practice the theoretical knowledge acquired in the college; to acquire more technical and human aspects of management; to learn new knowledge and techniques; and to gain experiences from farmers in terms of management in field operations. A project proposal for the improvement of the coffee plantation of Mr. Modesto A. Gatdula, the author's farmer cooperator was prepared. This was then submitted to DSAC-AEOP which granted a loan in the amount of P1, 500.00. A major portion of the loan was spent on fertilizer. The farm practice student assisted her farmer cooperator in applying fertilizer on coffee plants and in weeding them. An analysis of cost and return showed that out of his loan of P1, 500.00, the farmer cooperator gained a net profit of P11, 110.00. This happened because he was able to harvest 20 cans of Robusta and 90 cans of Excelsa and Liberica in a one hectare coffee plantation.
