Adviser: Evelyn M. del Mundo, RN, MAN, Ph.D. The study, Intrapartum Practices And Complications Among Mothers In Lying-In Clinics of’ General Trias, Cavite CY 2010-2013, aimed to 1) describe the socio- demographic profile of mothers who delivered in lying-in clinics of General Tras, Cavite in terms of age, civil status, educational attainment, monthly family income, GTPAL, and lifestyle; 2) describe the profile of the lying-in clinics in General Trias, Cavite in terms of type of service, accreditation level, years in operation, Location accessibility to a hospital, number of affiliated hospitals, number of personnel, number of mothers who delivered from 2010-2013, number of referrals from 2010-2013, number of mothers with complicated cases from 2010-2013, services offered, staff required credentials, available facilities, and existence of written policies and procedures; 3) determine the intrapartum practices in lying-in clinics of General Trias, Cavite if it’s maternal and newborn, 4) determine the intrapartal complications among mothers in lying-in clinics of General Trias, Cavite CY 2010-2013; 5) determine the significant relationship between lying-in profile and intrapartal complications among mothers of General Trias, Cavite CY 2010-2013; and lastly 6) determine the significant relationship between intrapartum practices of lying-in clinics of General Trias, Cavite and a) profile of lying in clinics b) intrapartal complications, The researchers applied frequency distribution, mean range, percentage, and Pearson correlation to summarize the data. The gathered data were tallied, interpreted, and statistically analyzed. The results of the study indicate Majority of the mothers who delivered from lying-in clinics of General Trias, Cavite were primigravida or first time mothers with 26-30 years of age, either single or married, obtained secondary education, with an average monthly family income of P1,500 and below. Majority of participants has a maternal history of giving birth to at least one term baby, had not given birth to a preterm, no abortion, and has at least one living children. While on their lifestyle, most of them do not smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, took illegal drugs and walking is their most common form of exercise during pregnancy. And the most common intrapartal complication among mothers is preterm labor and the most common signs and symptoms are frequent contractions, lower back pain and pain in the hypogastric. On the other hand, the lying-in clinics are mainly accredited primary level with 1- 3 years in operation, located to an easy access area without any affiliation to any secondary medical facilities; mainly supervised by a midwife. It also has an ascending number of deliveries and referrals from 2010-2013. It was also found out that the most common complicated cases from 2010-2013 are preterm labor and Premature Rupture of Membrane (PROM). Monitoring the progress of labor, teaching of spontaneous pushing and using active management of third stage labor are the most common intrapartum practices done in the lying-in clinics. Profile of lying-in clinics in terms of clinical staff has a significant relationship to maternal and newborn intrapartum practicesThere is a significant relationship between profile of lying-in clinics in terms of clinical staff and intrapartal complications among mothers.
