Abstract: DILOY, JOANNE RAGANDAN, Physical Traits Preferences of Selected BS HRM Students of Cavite State University and Its Correlation to Social Acceptance. Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. Mrs. Imelda R. Filart, Thesis Adviser. This study was conducted to determine whether the physical traits preferences of selected BS FIRM students have a correlation to social acceptance. Specifically it aimed to identify the level of social acceptance and determine the physical traits preferences of the respondents in terms of face, hair, skin complexion or skin color, height, body built or figure and fashion style. It also aimed to know if there is a significant relationship between physical traits preferences of BS FIRM students and their social acceptance. The researcher used a researcher- made test as an instrument which is composed of two sets: (1) Social Acceptance Test (SAT) and (2) Questionnaire for Physical Traits Preferences (QPTP). The first set was administered to the students to determine their level of social acceptance. And the second set was administered to the same students to determine their physical traits preferences. Findings of the study revealed that the respondents have an average level of social acceptance towards other people and majority of the respondents preferred chinky eyes, short, flat nose, thin and regular lips, circle-shaped face, straight, long, black hair, morello or morena, average height , slim body figure and fashionista. It also revealed that the respondents' average level of social acceptance to other people is partly associated in their physical trait preference in term of shape of the face only. But the rest of the physical traits preferences of the respondents were not associated with social acceptance. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommends that in general, people should invest in improving one's appearance_ It is an external characteristic that other people can see and one of the bases when being evaluated like when applying for a job. BS HRM students are expected to become well-groomed and good-looking at all times because they face different kinds of people especially when they are already working so they should invest in their looks. But it is more important that in improving oneself, it should not be based or should not be done for pleasing other people or doing it like dying to meet their standards but a person must do it for himself. Being secured whether a person is liked or accepted or not no matter how he or she looks, whether he or she will gain other people's social acceptance or not. After all, the result of the study revealed that social acceptance is not associated nor based mostly on the physical traits preferences. Other factors like intelligence and skills are needed and should be taken into consideration.
