The Perceived Effects of Training Schedule of the Cavite State University- Main Campus Varsity Athletes on their Academic Performance. Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Ms. Jazmin F. Piores. A study was conducted among varsity athletes of Cavite State University, Don Severino Delas Alas Main Campus. Specifically, the study determined the demographic profile of athletes of varsity athletes in Cavite State University, main campus; the training schedule of CvSU-Main campus varsity athletes, the level of effects of training schedule - on the academic performance as perceived by varsity athletes of CvSU main campus, ascertained the significant relationship between demographic profiles and effects on academic performance as perceived by varsity athletes of CvSU main campus, and ascertained the significant difference of effects of training schedule to their academic performance as perceived by varsity athletes of CvSU main campus. The participants were 136 CvSU varsity athletes. A survey questionnaire was used to gather the needed data. Descriptive statistical tools were used to answer the problems posed in this study. Results showed that more than half of the participants are males. Majority of respondents are ages 19 to 20. Most of the respondents are included in ball games. 42 out of 130 respondents were part of the CvSU varsity athletes for three years. With regards to the relationship of demographic profile of the Participants to their training schedule and academic performance, test Statistics showed that only year in varsity was found to be significantly related to their training schedule and academic performance. On the other hand, age, gender and Sports events were not related to their study. According to the results of the conducted survey, there is no significant effect of training schedule on academic performance of the CvSU varsity athletes. The results showed that the training schedule of CvSU varsity athletes was not a factor that affects their academic performance according on how they responded on the survey questionnaires. Overall, participants inscribed in terms of positive effect of training schedule on the academic performance recorded “High”. While in negative effect, the participants recorded as “Low”. This means that participants were able to balance both their studies and their training schedule as varsity athletes and as a student. Test Statistics showed that there is no significant difference between the training schedule and the academic performance in terms of frequency of training, time of training, training pattern, and intensity of training.
