The study was conducted in micro finance institutions in selected municipalities in Cavite from June 2015 to March 2016. The main objective of this study was to determine the credit risk management policies and practices of micro finance institutions in selected municipalities of Cavite. Specifically, the research study aimed to determine the business profile of micro financing institutions in selected municipalities of Cavite; identify the most implemented credit risk management policies and practices by micro financing institutions; determine the relationship between business profile and credit risk management policies and practices; evaluate the effectiveness of credit risk management policies and practices of micro finance institutions in selected municipalities of Cavite: determine the relationship of credit risk management policies and practices to the portfolio at risk of micro finance institutions; and determine the problems encountered by micro financing institutions in their implementation of credit risk management policies and practices. The research design used in the study is the descriptive data analysis with the help of survey questionnaires which was distributed to a total of 100 micro finance institutions in selected municipalities in Cavite namely: Bacoor City, Dasmarinas City, Imus City, Tanza, Silang, Tagaytay City, General Trias, Naic, Trece Martires City, Rosario and General Mariano Alvarez (GMA). Statistical measures and formula such as frequency counts, range, percentage and mean were used in presenting and describing the business characteristics of the participants. Likert Scale was used in determining the level of implementation of credit risk management policies and practices of micro finance institutions. While the problems encountered was measured using percentage, Spearman rank correlation coefficient and chi-square test were used to measure the relationship between the business profile of the participants and the credit policies and credit risk management practices. Point Biserial Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the relationship between the credit risk management policies and practices and portfolio at risk of micro finance institution. The micro finance institutions have high level of implementation to the credit risk management policies and high level of adherence to the credit risk management policies and practices, and that there is a significant relationship between the portfolio at risk of a micro finance institution to the credit risk management policies in terms of the late payments.
