PUBLICO, DOMINIQUE JOHN F., DEL MUNDO, MARK NEIL M. and MASIGLA, ERICSON E. Demographic Profile, Causes of Unemployment and Self-Esteem of Selected Unemployed Individuals in Selected Barangays in Gma, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Adviser Mr. Bayani G. Laurio.
The study was conducted in selected barangays namely: Maderan and 5, Memije, Lumbreras, in GMA, Cavite from year July 2014-2015. This study focused on demographic profile, causes of unemployment, and self-esteem of the unemployed individuals. Descriptive-correlational design was used by the researchers to determine the correlational analysis of demographic profile, causes of unemployment and self-esteem of the respondents. The study revealed that majority of the respondents ranged from the age of 31 and up. The number of male and female respondents showed that slightly more females participated in the survey. There are also more married respondents than single ones. Results show that out of 300 respondents, 25% or 75 participants identified insufficient education as the cause of their unemployment. Self — esteem scores of the respondents ranged from 11 to 20 with an equivalent interpretation of "average self-esteem" while 20 percent of the respondents had mean scores of 21 to 30 with an interpretation of "high self-esteem". The results also suggested that the respondent's demographic profile has a significant relationship with the causes of unemployment. It was also found out that there is no significant relationship between self — esteem of the selected unemployed individuals to the causes of unemployment.
It suggests that even though the individual doesn't have his/her job, it doesn't affect or lower his/her self — esteem.
