The study aimed to find out the profitability of mongo using the high yielding variety. It was conducted from August 1966.to November 1986 at Cabuco, Trece Martires City.
A prepared 5,000 square meter of land was planted with Pag-asa 3 variety of mongo. With the help of Mr. Ben Cruzat, mongo seeds were broadcast on the prepared land.
Farmer-cooperators were provided with five gantas of mongo seeds amounting to P250.00 and two bags of complete fertilizer (14-14-14) which cost P460.00. An amount of P630.00 was spent for labor. The total amount spent was one thousand three hundred forty pesos (P1,340.00). In the five gantas of mongo planted, sixty six (66) gantas were harvested and were sold dried at P50.00 per ganta. The project had a gross income of P3,300.00. After deducting the total expenses of one thousand three hundred forty (P1,340.00), the project gave a net profit of one thousand nine hundred sixty (P1,960.00). It was found out that planting of mango using a high yielding variety increased the income of the farmer.
