The study aimed to: determine the impact of religious sectors on voters in selecting public officials in the municipality of Lemery, Batangas. Specifically, it also aimed to identify the grouped and ungrouped household religious affiliations in the municipality of Lemery, Batangas according to the Philippine Statistics Authority; to
clearly know the preferences in electing public officials of participants from different
religious sectors in the municipality of Lemery, Batangas in terms of Religious Affiliation and Personal Preference; and determine the different characteristics of political candidates will the voters consider for 2016 election.
The participants of the study were one-hundred (100) respondents from different religious affiliations that can be found in the municipality of Lemery, Batangas.
Descriptive and Narrative design were used in this study to determine the impact of considered preferences in voting in relation to religious affiliation and personal preference.
Results showed that there were different grouped and ungrouped household religious affiliations that can be found in the municipality of Lemery, Batangas. It also
revealed that the impact of religious sectors to voters in selecting public officials in the municipality of Lemery, Batangas showed a high impact and highly influential in terms of Religious Affiliation and Personal Preference. The selected affiliates of Bethel Baptist Church, Born Again Christians (JIL), Seventh-day Adventist, Roman Catholic and The Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints concluded that religion still plays a role in determining voting behavior. On the other hand, there is stronger evidence for the influence of their own religious perspectives and spiritual beliefs that helps them to embody the political candidate to govern rather than their religious affiliation.
The participants had many characteristics to consider this coming election, however, this concerns as being God-fearing, anti-corruption and honest were the main characteristics of political candidate would the voters of municipality of Lemery, Batangas will consider in the coming 2016 election.
