The project entitled "Increasing Yield of Cowpea by Using Organic Fertilizer" was conducted at the Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite from August 22, 1986 to November 29, 1986. This was conducted to maximize production of cowpea through the use of organic fertilizer. The field covering an area of 2,500 sq. meter which was the project was plowed and harrowed at two weeks interval to allow weed to decay and weed seeds to germinate. The last plowing was followed by harrowing to insure proper levelling of the land. Fertilization was done twice. Organic fertilizer (chicken manure) was applied before planting. Planting was done on August 22, 1986. Occasional weeding was done to kill the weeds as they grew in the plantation. Harvesting was done when the plants showed signs
of indications that the crops were already matured. Har-vested cowpea was directly sold at the nearest market. The project gave net income at P854.00 which can be considered an excellent profit for cowpea.
