ROCILLO, ALLEN RENZO B. and FOLOG, CHRISTIAN M. Web-based Comprehensive Examination for the Department of Information Technology in Cavite State University-Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Sciences in Information Technology, Cavite State University,Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Marlon R Pereña.
The study was conducted from March 2015 to April 2015 at Cavite State University, Indang Cavite to develop a web-based comprehensive examination for the Department of Information Technology. Specifically, it aimed to: 1. identify the problems of the existing system through interviews, survey and research; 2. analyze and interpret the problems using fishbone diagram; 3. design the system using a Feature Driven Development Methodology that specifies the processes involved in the system; 4. develop a system using PHP and MySQL; and 5. evaluate the system performance through series of testing.
The methodology used in the software was Feature-Driven Development (FDD). It was composed of the following phases: develop an overall model, build a feature list,
plan by feature, design by feature and build by feature.
The software developed has the following modules: account management module, examination module, content management module, reviewer module and report module. Account management module includes the management of account depending on the level of access of users. Examination module includes the students answer sheet provided with random questions. Content management module includes the creation of the examination and the uploading of lectures. Reviewer module includes the list of lectures that can be downloaded by the students and the mock examination. For the report module, it includes the generation of the list of students who took the examination from the highest to lowest order. The system has three levels of access: administrator, instructor and student. Each user has its own page and individual username and password.
Web-based comprehensive examination was developed under Apache as server, PHP as programming language, HTML as scripting language and MySQL for database. Microsoft Office 2013 was used for the documentation and diagrams.
The system was evaluated by 120 students and 10 IT specialists based on its functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability. Having excellent result in evaluation indicates that the respondents were very much satisfied with the system.
