The study, "Intercropping Peanut Between Nine Month Old Pineapple Plants" was conducted at the experimental field owned by Mr. Celso Crucido of Bancod, Indang, Cavite from April. to August 1990. The establishment of the project aimed to deve-lop a give and take relationship between the farm prac-titioner and the farmer cooperator on the techniques and ideas of growing pineapple and peanut. An area of 2,400 square meters planted with nine month old pineapple distanced 100 x 25 centimeters was utilized for the project. Peanut seeds were planted in between rows of pineapple at a distance of 25 centimeters between hills with three to four seeds per hill. Complete fertilizer (14-14-14) at the rate of 250 kilograms per hectare was applied, 50 percent were applied basally and the remaining 50 percent were side dressed 25 days after germination. Spraying of Lannate was done at the middle of the growing season. Weeding and cultivation were employed as necessary. Harvesting was done 95 days after planting. The total harvested unshelled pods was about 375 gantas were sold at the rate of 415.00 per gantas The total gross sales from the project amounted to P5,625.00. After deducting the overall expenses, the project obtained a net income of P3,396.10.
