Abstract: BANAYO, MARY GRACE P. and MADRIDEO, GLENN B. Proposed Design of Reinforced Concrete Dam at Barangay Tres Cruces, Tanza, Cavite. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Engr. Renato B. Cubilla. The design project was conducted at Cavite State University from June 2015 to March 2016. It was evaluated on March 2016 at the College of Engineering and Information Technology. The study aimed to prepare the architectural and structural plans of the proposed reinforced concrete dam at Barangay Tres Cruces, Tanza, Cavite and its cost estimate. It includes the detailed design of the reinforced concrete dam, such as the design of base, stem, heel and toe. The length of the main dam which is concerned only in the study is 63m and the adopted height is 15m with a top and base width of 4m and 11m respectively. The structural design of the dam was conducted following the procedures and requirements as per NSCP standards and other related design projects. The ultimate moment, shear and axial loads were the basis for the design. Based on the information, study, and investigations obtained, the authors concluded that the analysis and design of the project follow all proper guidelines and procedures in the construction of the structure. Computer Aided Drafting and Design software was of great help in accomplishing the architectural and structural details of the dam. Cost estimates of the said project were also provided with the aid of Excel. The estimated cost for the dam was Php 35,635,893.25. xi Based on the comprehensive studies and computations done, it can be concluded that all the sections and materials used in the project are safe and economical. The conduct of the study enhanced the skill of the authors in the structural design and analysis of reinforced concrete dam. The study enabled to establish and practice to achieve the expertise in designing of a reinforced concrete dam. The durability and rigidity of the reinforced concrete dam in Tres Cruces will make an attractive material for structural applications.The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) had suggested choices of other materials that can be used for dam structures like rubble stones and rubbers. The authors recommend for future researchers to come up with a design of dam using these materials.
