Abstract: CUBILE, AL CLINT A. and MIRHAN, CRISTOPHER D. A Proposed Prototype of a Sustainable Urban Vertical Community. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Arch. Abigail A. Rustique-Pimentel. The study was conducted from June 2015 to March 2016 at Cavite State University Indang, Cavite to formulate a design for a prototype of a sustainable urban vertical community. Specifically, it aimed to: 1. establish the qualities of a site that will serves as a basis in selecting the most efficient location/site for the proposal; 2. identify/select and justify the most efficient site for the proposal; 3. determine the capacity/number of clients that proposal can accommodate; 4. identify appropriate laws, codes and regulations which governs the design of the study; 5. formulate a form concept and design concept that will serve as guide in conceptualizing the form and design of the building; 6. determine a design philosophy that the proposal will follow in the design solution conceptualization; 7. establish the appropriate design considerations; and 8. identify specific designs features and facilities best suited for the functional, efficient architectural design of the sustainable urban vertical community. The proposal intends to provide solution to urbanization and land scarcity in Quezon City. It also aims to free up more open spaces for greeneries which is lacking in urban areas Regional profile analysis and sectoral problem analysis were performed to identify the problem to be addressed. Data gathering activities included researcher, interviews, and behavioral mapping, site criteria were established and site selection was conducted. Form concept used in the study was banaue rice terraces and the design concept was organic architecture. This is because it is significant to the proposal since the designers were promoting living with greens. The design philosophy observed in the study was “Architects have to become designer of ecosystems. Not just designer of beautiful facades of sculptures, but systems of economy and ecology, where we channel the flow not only of people, but also the flow of resources through our cities.” by Bjarke Ingles. The site chosen is on Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Quezon City. At the end of the study, the researchers were able to provide a site development plan, floor plans, elevations, sections and perspective for architectural presentation. A scaled model was developed to show its actual appearance which could serve as reference for the students and faculty members of the university.

Regional profile analysis and sectoral problem analysis were performed to identify the problem to be addressed. Data gathering activities included researcher, interviews, and behavioral mapping, site criteria were established and site selection was conducted.
