DIZON, CHARISSE B. GROWTH ENHANCING EFFECTS OF DRIED CRUMBLED LEAVES OF OREGANO (Coleus aromaticus) AND ITALIAN OREGANO (Origanum vulgare) SUPPLEMENTED TO BROILERS.Undergraduate Thesis: Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Dr. Cristina F.Olo
The study was conducted at the Broiler Production Project of the Department of
Animal Science at the Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. It aimed to determine: the growth enhancing effects of mixing Coleus aromaticus and Origanum vulgare with the regular feeds of broiler chickens in terms of body weight, feed consumption, average daily gain and feed conversion efficiency; the more effective variety of oregano in
enhancing the growth of broilers; and the level of treatment that is most beneficial to broilers. The treatment design was as follows: Tl (Control), T2 (2.5 g C. aromaticus/ kg feeds), T3 (5.0 g C. aromaticus/ kg feeds), T4 (2.5 g O. vulgare/ kg feeds), T 5 (5.0 g O.
vulgare/ kg feeds), T6 (2.5 g C.a/ kg feeds. + 2.5 g O.v/ kg feeds), T7 (5.0 g C.W kg
feeds.+ 5.0 g O.v/kg feeds).
The results revealed that supplementation of dried crumbled leaves of Coleus
aromaticus and Origanum vulgare had no differential effects on broiler BW, FC, ADG
and FCE. T4 (2.5 g O. vulgare/ kg feeds)gave the best measures of body weight, average daily gain and feed consumption. And in terms of feed conversion efficiency, T3 (5.0 g C.
aromaticus/ kg feeds) and Ts (5.0 g O. vulgare/ kg feeds) showed the best result. The Tl
(Control), posted the highest return on investement but among the treated groups, T3 (5.0 g C
aromaticus/ kg feeds) posted the highest return on investment
