Abstract: OPENA, VON GERALD BACKYARD I--10G FATTENING ENTERPRISE AT CAVFIFE STATE UNIVERSITY: AN ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship Major in Animal Production. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Adviser: Dr. Cristina F. Olo. The hog fattening enterprise was conducted at Animal Production Project at Cavite State University, located at Brgy. Bancod, Indang, Cavite from June 15, 2018 to September 25, 2018. This project allowed the student-entrepreneur to acquire knowledge and obtain skills in backyard hog fattening, develop managerial skills on how to handle a backyard piggery project and determine the profitability of a backyard hog fattening project. The swine production project used four weanlings which were purchased from a piggery farm at Barangay Pulo, Indang, Cavite. The feeds were sourced from a feed supplier at Brgy. Lumampong, Indang, Cavite. The project involved different activities starting from the preparation of the housing and equipment, purchase of stocks and feeds, waste management as well as harvesting and marketing. The four weanlings with an initial average body weight of 21.25 kg was grown for a period of 103 days and at the end of the growing period, the hogs weigh an average of 96 kg. The hogs consumed a total of 25 kg of pre-starter, 50 kg of starter and 137.5 kg grower with an average feed consumption of 193.5 kg. The average daily gain of the hog was 1,288.79 g. The hogs obtained a feed efficiency of 2.44. At the end of rearing period, the project incurred a total cost of P 45,146.00 with the total sales of P 48,160.00. The project realized a net income of P 3,014.00 from the four hogs sold at dressed weight basis. The return of investment (ROl) was 6.68%.
