Abstract: BARELA, ROSENETH MAE I., and BUENAVENTURA, JANELLE D. Bayang Pinagpala: Architectural Profiling of Historic Town Center of La Noble Villa de Pila in the Province of Laguna. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Architect Ricky R. Mojica. The study was conducted from September 2018 to March 2019 at Pila, Laguna to provide an architectural profiling of prominent structures at the town which is known to be the Bayang Pinagpala. Specifically, the study aimed to: I. know the background of Pila, Laguna in terms of history and town planning; 2. know the basis in calling Pila, Laguna the "Bayang Pinagpala": 3. record the profiles of the heritage structures in Pila, Laguna; and 4. record, document and develop detailed illustrations of the architectural profiles of the prominent heritage structures in Pila, Laguna which may be recommended for conservation, preservation and adaptive reuse. The researchers applied several research methods to acquire their data. Literature search, interviews, photo and video documentations, and as-built measuring were conducted. The measured plans and elevations, as well as the architectural details, were manually-drawn for the presentation and discussion of data. The town planning in Pila was based on Recopilacion de las Leyes de las Indias or the Laws of the Indies wherein the layout is in grid style and the plaza is surrounded by church, town hall, school, and the houses of principalia or politically-powerful people. The prominent structures found in Pila, Laguna were the San Antonio de Padua Parish Church, Municipal Hall of Pila, Corazon Rivera Ancestral House, Teodoro Rivera Alava / Soledad Agra Ancestral House, Pita Elementary School, Manuel Rivera / Esperanza (Chata) Relova Ancestral House, Mesiton Rivera / Maria Ordoveza Ancestral House, Arcadio Relova / Benita Dimaculangan Ancestral House, Juan Madrigal / Paz Rivera Ancestral House, Santiago Fernandez / Salvadora Santos Ancestral House. These prominent structures show the unique charm and richness in architecture. Based on the results of the study, it is hereby recommended that: 1. this must be used by architecture students to study more about the heritage structures and architectural styles that existed in the country and the important structures that contributed to the history and architecture; 2. this must be used by the local government unit and agencies in Pila for the development of the preservation and protection of the heritage structures in their town; 3. this must be used by the Pita Historical Society Foundation to help their advocacy to popularized their town as Bayang Pinagpala; 4. This must be used by the Piletios or the citizens of Pila to add their interest in the architecture of the town; and 5. the future researchers to further study the cultural heritage conservation and preservation.
