Abstract: ABEJUELA, BEATRIZ C., INOCENCIO, BEVERLY T., and PARAS, JASMIN N. Test Development and Standardization of a Qualifying Examination for BS Psychology Students of Cavite State University. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Thesis. Adviser: Cecilia B. Banaag, PhD, RGC, RPsy. The study aimed to develop and standardize the intellective dimension of a qualifying examination for BS Psychology students as retention requirement to screen qualified students. The study used descriptive-developmental research design. The participants of the stud\ Icy the pilot testing and reliability testing of the test were the third year BS Psychology students at Cavite State University-Main Campus. Additionally, second year BS Psychology students from the main campus and satellite campuses participated in the morning stage of the development process. The study also aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the developed test such as validity and reliability. The study ensured the content, construct, and concurrent validity of the test. Content validity was ensured through consulting subject matter specialists; construct validity was calculated through the use of item analysis; and concurrent validity was computed by correlating the test scores and the grade point average (GPA) of the testtaker and found out that test scores had a positive correlation with the participants' GPA. On the other hand, reliability index of the developed test was determined using internal consistency and test-retest. The results of the test-retest show a remarkable reliability index. Internal consistency for verbal and numerical part of the test shows a remarkable consistency; however, abstract reasoning part obtained lower internal consistency. The reference group used in the study was the second year BS Psychology students at Cavite State University including the satellite campuses. Their raw scores were converted into standard scores such as z-score, stanine, and percentile. Lastly, the developed test also underwent standardization by observing uniform administration, scoring, and interpretation.
