Perception of Faculty Members on the Global Competitiveness of Cavite State University as a Higher Education Institution. Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor of Science in International Studies major in European Studies. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Dr. Marietta C. Mojica. This study was conducted to: describe the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the faculty members of Cavite State University (CvSU); determine the perceived global competitiveness of Cavite State University in terms of the following areas of concern: a) Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives (VMGO), b) Faculty, c) Curriculum and Instruction, d) Supports to Students, e) Research, 1) Extension and Community Involvement, g.) Library, h) Physical Plant and Facilities; i) Laboratories, and j) Administration; identify the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the university in the identified areas of concern; and determine the relationship between the selected demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the participants and their perceived global competitiveness of the university. Descriptive-correlation design was used in this study. The participants were the 142 faculty members of Cavite.. State University selected through simple random sampling using-fishbowl technique: _The data were analyzed using the 'frequency count, percentage, mean, standard deviation, weighted arithmetic mean, and Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient. To determine the perception of the participants on ,the global-competitiveness of the Cavite State University as Higher Education Institution in terms of the areas of concern, ten parameters or indicators were used. The study used a five-point rating scale to determine their perception of competitiveness for the different Likert statements under each parameter and has verbal interpretation of: Very Low Competitiveness, Low Competitiveness, Average, High Competitiveness, and Very High Competitiveness respectively. Results showed that the University obtained an overall "High Competitiveness" perception from the faculty members_ In general, a perception of "High Competitiveness" was given to the university. The perceived strengths of the university are the statements that received the highest mean rating of "Very High Competitiveness" which were on VMGO, Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, and Administration parameters. Meanwhile, the perceived weaknesses are the statements that received the lowest mean rating of "Average" which were on Physical Plant and-Facilities, and Laboratories. Results of Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient showed that the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the participants (age, academic rank, years of service, highest degree earned, and range of salary) does not have a significant relationship with all the parameters presented. Only the range of salary and the library showed significant relationship.
