The study entitled “Word Chain: An Android Application Strategic Spelling Word Game” was developed to provide entertainment with educational value using trie algorithm. The application can be played by all ages that are fond in playing word games. The study was developed from February 2016 to March 2017. Data gathering was done in the libraries from Cavite State University - Main Campus, De La Salle University - Dasmarinas, and Technological University of the Philippines - Manila.
In developing the software, Iterative development process was used for the software to be done successfully. Every process was surely tested individually so that the desired software was met. The following tools were used for software development: Windows 8 operating system, Java programming language, and Microsoft Word for documentation. The software evaluation was performed by 150 respondents consisting of 50 college students of Cavite State University -Main Campus, 50 high school students from different schools, and 50 adults.
The overall result of software evaluation with the criteria of functionality, usability, efficiency, and portability shows that the software was excellently done. It means that the researchers met all the expectations and desired output for the developed software.
