business profile and the profitability of private NKP learning centers in Cavite; and (7)
determine if there is a significant relationship between the financial literacy of private NKP
learning center administrators and the profitability of private NKP learning centers in Cavite.
Descriptive and correlational research were used in the study. Ocular visits and
personal interviews with the aid of adapted and modified questionnaire were done to gather
pertinent data. A total enumeration of 84 private NKP learning centers as of 2017 were
registered on the Department of Education (DepEd). Out of the 84 registered schools, only 34
were fit on the given scope and limitation and also agreed to cooperate and participate and
disclosed information. At this point, only 34 private NKP learning centers in Cavite were the
participants of the study.
Data were collected through personal interview with the aid of adapted and
modified questionnaire. Frequency count, percentage, mean, range and standard deviation
were used to determine the socio-demographic profile and business profile
of the participants. The five-point Likert Scale was used to measure the level of financial
literacy of the participants. Different profitability ratios such as gross profit margin, operating
profit margin, net profit margin, and return on operating expenses were used to determine the
profitability of the private NKP learning centers in Cavite. In determining the relationship
between the variables, Pearson correlation and Spearman's Rank correlation were used.
Most of the participants were female aging from 39 to 48 years old which were college
graduates. The study revealed that the participants were averagely financial literate which
implies that they are very much confident in making effective decisions using various personal
finance concept and money handling skills in operating a business, well-educated with
financial matters making them have an understanding in financial management, effective to
planning future finances and is good in practicing manner of managing money. It also revealed
that the participants generated a better operating profit margin, net profit margin, and return on
operating margin than the average profit margins of the educational services industry. While
the gross profit margin of the participants was lower than the average gross profit margin of
the educational services industry.
Moreover, among the variables, it was found out that there is a significant relationship
between the age and financial literacy of the participants with a negative correlation which
means that as the age of the participants increases, their level of financial literacy decreases.
Significant relationship also existed between the monthly net profit and the return on operating
expenses of the private NKP learning centers in
Cavite.
