QUILATAN, CALVIN JOSEPH N. and VilLLALUZ, ALYSSA MAE G., Design and Construction of a Portable Thermoelectric Generating System and Cooker. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. December 2019. Adviser: Engr. Jonathan M. Calina.
A study on portable thermoelectric generating system and cooker was conducted from March 2019 to June 2019 at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to incorporate the education acquired in the program of Electrical Engineering. Specifically. the study aimed to: 1. construct the STEG module; 2. test and evaluate the STEG module; 3. construct the electric stove; 4. test and evaluate the generating system and stove; and 5. conduct cost computation.
The study deals with the design and construction of a thermoelectric generating system and cooker that has been evaluated which includes solar thermoelectric generator module, lead-acid battery, and a heating element. The STEG system is composed of two modules, which is where the TEGs are placed. The first module has 30 STEG connected in series while the other module has 14 STEG connected in parallel. It The test and evaluation of the system, were done by acquiring the following parameters, the STEG pettier was connected in parallel which has an output voltage of 4 volts, and has a step-up voltage of 12 volts, connected to a 12 volt lead acid battery
The STEG power system showed that it can be used as an alternative source of energy. The proponents recommended other researchers to initiate further studies on enhancing the system connection that improves the system efficiency and prolong the operating time of the generator system. The total cost of the study was Php 28,523.00.
