A three-month field study was conducted at Publica Motor Sales Corporation in Paranaque, Metro, Manila from November 2, 1996 to January 25, 1997 covering 1996 operation. The study gave the author the chance to apply his gained knowledge in business management to actual situations. It also described and analyzed the management, organization, marketing and financial aspects of Publica Motor Sales Corporation by identifying the problems it encounters and by formulating and recommending viable solutions to the problems. During the conduct of the case study the trainee was exposed to adifferent activities in the accounting department such as recording of daily transactions of the company including cash receipts, cash accounts and weekly check vouchers. He was’ also involved in actual office procedures including computation of monthly trial balance and _ typing important documents of the company. The study focused on the management and organization, marketing and financial aspects of the company. Relevant data were gathered through observation and actual interview with different heads of the company. Other data were obtained from the company's files. Publica Motor Sales Corporation is a line- and-staff organization with approximately thirty-two (32) employees. The company sells Kia products such as Kia Pride, Kia Ceres, Kia Besta, Kia Pregio, and Kia Sportage. Prices of these products depend on the terms of payment whether cash or financing or installment. At the start of the operation the capital amounted to approximately 73,000,000.00. Ninety-five (95%) percent of this amount was provided by owner and the remaining five percent (5%) was loaned from the bank. The capital was used in the company's operations such as construction of building ana purchase of equipment and materials needed in the office. In its operation, the company encounters the following problems: ineffective personnel in the organization, inactive sales representatives in promoting the products and misuse of funds. To solve these problems, the author recommends that the company do the following: be strict in hiring new applicants and choose people who are really qualified and effective in the position; implement its rules and regulations especially to its sales representatives; and use funds properly and minimize expenses.
