The study entitled "Production of Handmade Paper from Coffee Pulp" was conducted at Calumpang Cerca Indang, Cavite.
The general objective of the study was to produce handmade paper from coffee pulp. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the feasibility of using coffee pulp in producing handmade papers, evaluate the characteristics of the paper produced from coffee pulp in terms of sensory evaluation and tensile strength, and identify the best treatment in making handmade paper using coffee pulp
The study was arranged in a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments replicated three times. The treatments were Tl (140 gm of coffee pulp + 1/3 of the 45-gm starch dissolved and cooked in 750 mL of water), T 2 (140 gm of coffee pulp +1/3 of the 90 gm starch dissolved and cooked in 750 mL of water) and T 3 (140 gm of coffee pulp +1/3 of the 135 gm starch dissolved and cooked in 750 mL Of water) The following were subjected to ANOVA for the test of significance.
Results showed that it is feasible to use coffee pulp in producing handmade paper
It was observed that Tl is more acceptable than the two other treatments
In terms of color, T3 got the highest mean than the two other treatments with a mean score of 1 84. It showed no significant difference between the two other treatments.
The respondents agreed that T l, T2 and T3 produced brown color of the paper.
Mean Scores for texture shows that Tl got the highest mean score than the other treatments with a mean score of 2.71. It showed no significant difference between the two other treatments. Majority of the respondents considered the paper rough.
Finally, T2 got the highest mean score in terms of tensile strength with a score of 26 44 N/ cu. In. followed by Tl and T3 with a mean score of 26.17 N/ cu in. and 24.84 N/ cu. In. respectively.
