This study was conducted at Buna Lejos, Indang„ Cavite from June 1981 to September 1981 to determine the effect of time of hilling—up on the growth and yield of glutinous corn.
Randomized complete block design (RCBD) was used in the experiment 0 There were four treatments and a control (no hilling—up)
Hilling—up cultivation was done to cover the root plants as well as to kill weeds that maybe left behind during the regular cultivation,
Germination took place 3—4 days after planting the seeds of corn 6—8 centimeters deep at three seeds to a hill. Missing hills were replanted a week after seed sowing and thinning followed immediately leaving two plants to a hill.
Results showed that Treatment I (hilling—up after 2 weeks from planting the seeds) produced the highest grain yield and yield components than any other treatments.
