Abstract: BASCO, ANNA FRANCHEZKA D., BAYOT, RAI WAN JESRIEL L., and OMBAO, BOOTS M. Disaster Preparedness Program in Selected Barangays of Bacoor, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2022. Adviser: Ms. Silkie C. Taguinay. The Philippines is one of the top countries in the world at risk of disaster related phenomenon. This matter causes widespread devastation not only on the properties, but also on the lives of the local residents. In a disaster-prone country like the Philippines, local governments are held to perform in a high standard way as they are considered as the core of the community. A local government unit (LGU) remains to have a vital role among phases — before, during, and after disasters — as mandated by the Local Government Code of 1991. This study is conducted to determine the level of disaster preparedness programs in the assessment of Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officials and the residents of the selected Barangay in Bacoor, Cavite in terms of the four thematic areas of disaster — Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Programs, Disaster Preparedness Program, Disaster Response Program, and Disaster Rehabilitation Program. This is a descriptive study conducted with the use of a survey questionnaire that was given to the participants. A total of 120 participants were able to respond to the study from Barangay Officials of Barangay Banalo and Sineguelasan and selected residents of the mentioned areas. The disaster preparedness as assessed by the DRRM Officials shows a high level of satisfactory in terms of the disaster programs. On the other hand, selected residents responded unsatisfactory in most of the same under laid programs. Numerous programs in the community were successfully performed by the DRRMO to assist concerns in helping the people in times of disaster. Yet, selected residents show disapproval due to some shortcomings in terms of proper implementation of programs and information dissemination. Keywords: DRRMO, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Programs, Disaster Preparedness Program, Disaster Response Program, and Disaster Rehabilitation Program, Local Government unit
