Indang, Cavite. April 1998. Prof. Gilchor P.Cubillo, Adviser.A five-month duck egg production project was conducted at Gulod, Cabuyao, Laguna from September 1997 to February1998. The project aimed to: (1) allow the students to acquire actual experience on duck egg production; (2) serve as an avenue for the students to apply the knowledge they have gained in the class particularly the managerial,technical and human relations know—how; (3) determine the cost and return of duck egg production; and (4) identify the common problems encountered in establishing the project . Primary data were gathered through direct observations and actual participation in farm activities. Secondary data were gathered through research. To start the project, a total amount of P15, 000 which was used to purchase stocks, feeds and other inputs was equally contributed. Two hundred duck layers and 21 drakes. Three thousand were purchased and used in the project. thirty-nine eggs were sold in the first month of operation, 4,102 in fourth marketed rejects P67,804. the second and 3,600, 3, 652 and 3, 242 in the third, Collected eggs were and fifth, respectively. A total of 16,865 good eggs, 770 rejects "and 185 ducks were sold, earning a total sales of P67,804. The project had a total expense of P58,660 for the five—month operation and a net income of P9 , 144, in a return on investment of 60.96 percent. The project encountered problems such as regulating inadequate technical breakage , inputs. knowledge, brown—out during night time , lack of supply of feeds and increasing price of inputs.
