Abstract: BORRAL, MARIANNE C. and NUESTRO, JHON JOSHUA G. COMBINED COMMUNITY (COCONUT MATERIALS FOR BUILDING INDIGENOUS NIPA HUTS INTO ENGINEERED DWELLINGS FOR COMMUNITIES): A Proposed Socialized Housing Development Utilizing Engineered Coconut Materials. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Arch. Anne Lorraine Javier-Salinas, uap. The study was conducted from September 2021 to June 2022 at College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Establish a design for Socialized Housing Development Utilizing Engineered Coconut Materials. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1.) apply architectural research methods in data gathering; 2.) identify the appropriate laws and codes governing the project proposal; 3.) establish site criteria to assess efficiency of the possible sites; 4.) perform site selection to identify the most efficient site for the proposal; 5.) determine the architectural design and form concepts, and design philosophy that will be used as guide in planning, designing, and developing the site; 6.) determine the appropriate strategies and design considerations applicable and to be followed in the design and plan of the proposal; 7.) produce architectural presentation drawings including site development plan, floor plans, sections, elevations and perspectives of the proposed facilities; and 8.) produce flythrough or walkthrough presentations of the proposal. Data were gathered through a series of intensive research, ocular inspection, and photo documentation. The researchers had undergone research studies regarding the benefactor of the project, material strength and availability, and projected project cost per unit for the understanding and improvement of the study. The researchers also conducted site analysis, architectural programming, space computations and conceptualized the most appropriate design approach in planning and designing of the study. AutoCAD, SketchUp, SketchUp layout, escape, adobe photoshop were used for presentation board-making and video editing software for walkthrough presentation. The site is located at Barangay Buhay nasapa San Juan, Batangas with a total land area of 34.1476 ha located in the rural area and is under the agricultural and residential zone. The proposed development was composed of fourteen (14) facilities such as: 1.) Housing units; 2.) Clubhouse; 3.) NHA administration building; 4.) Clinic; 5.) Daycare center; 6.) Material recovery facility; 7.) Livelihood and training center; 8.) Wet and dry market; 9.) Terminal; 10.) Elementary school; 11.) Chapel; 12.) Motor pool; 13.) Multi- purpose hall; and 14.) Coconut lumber yard. Vernacular architecture was used in the design of the facilities to promote local architecture using local materials. Natural lighting and ventilation, natural landscape features, coconut material innovations and other elements were introduced to the buildings to create a more productive and healthier built environment for the users. The researchers prepared and presented materials estimate, cost estimate, architectural plans, sections, elevations, perspectives, and walkthrough presentations. Upon the completion of the study, the researchers recommend the following for the development and improvement of the study: 1.) preparation of electrical, sanitary, mechanical, and structural drawings; and 2.) provision of cost analysis, structural analysis and methods of construction.
