Abstract: The study was conducted from September 2021 to May 2022 at the Municipality of Amadeo, Cavite to determine the factors that affect the decision making of selected registered voters in the said municipality. The voters are entitled to free and informed choice on whom to vote and must be dictated by the genuine welfare of the majority. Elections provide the voters' an opportunity to influence the course of public policy by choosing candidates who promise to enact a voter's preferred set of policies, or by re-electing an incumbent whose performance the voter approves. Specifically, the study focused to: 1. determine if these factors influence the decision-making of respondents in choosing their preferred local public official: a. Gender Role, b. Peer influence, c. Family influence, d. Educational Attainment, e. Religion, f. Candidate's power and popularity, g. Self-preference; 2. determine the preferences of selected registered voters within the locality of Municipality of Amadeo; and 3. determine how these factors influence the preferences of selected registered voters in their decision-making towards choosing local public candidates. This study utilized an interview method to collect qualitative data for this study. This involved gathering data within a small and selected number of respondents as it used description as a tool to draw data patterns. Therefore, the study interpreted the information obtained from the selected participants based on their own perspectives towards choosing local public officials in the Municipality of Amadeo. The objectives of the study aim to assess perspectives towards choosing a local candidate. The findings from this study showed that participants are influenced by their self-preference to decide and choose their preferred local candidate in their municipality.
