Abstract: ERIC JOHN G. CIELO. NATHANIEL VINCENT T. MARTINEZ. JOYCE MARIE C. PAHOWAY. A Qualitative Study on Protest Participation of Selected Reformative Movement Groups Residing in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis Submitted to the Faculty of College of Arts and Science Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. In this study, the objectives are the following: (1) To determine the demographic profile of those that engage in protest; (2) To describe what are the factors that push people to engage in reformative movement group protests; (3) To identify the experiences of reformative movement groups; (4) To evaluate the strength and weaknesses of their experiences; and (5) To analyze why these experiences of reformative movement groups must be evaluated. The researchers focused on the individual experiences of the protesters to determine the factors that push them to engage in protest participation, as well as the outcomes of said protest movements and to answer why these outcomes must be evaluated. The researchers started formulating their study from the month September 2021 up to May 2022. The researchers employed the Qualitative research method as well as existential-phenomenological research design under a descriptive approach to collect and analyze data. This method was used to gain a better insight into the Qualitative data and subsequently to offer a better explanation of the study using a variety of information sources, mostly from reliable sources of data, primarily the responses of the participants. Based on the data collected, this study supports Neil Smelser's Structural Strain theory which suggests that a person participates in protest under the presence of five elements. Lastly, the researchers believe that the findings of this study should act as a basis for government institutions, future researchers, as well as regular citizens in understanding the motivation, initiatives, and demonstrations of these reformative movement groups.
