Abstract: HERRERA, ALEJANDRO A., JR., Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1990. "A Comparative Profitability Analysis of Different Coconut- Based Cropping Systems in Selected Towns of Upland Cavite." Adviser: Mr. Angelo P. Olo. The study was conducted in five selected municipalities in upland Cavite, from August to October 1989. The study compared the profit abilities of different coconut-based cropping systems in selected towns of upland Cavite, determined the socio-economic characteristics of the farmers and the effect of changes of the cost of inputs and production level to the profit abilities of the different cropping systems. Statistical tools, such as frequency counts, percentages, totals were used in determining the socio- economic characteristics of the farmers. Profit margin and return on investment were used. Sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the effect of changes in the prices of inputs and production level on the profitability of the crops. The results showed that pattern no. 1 (coconut, pineapple, and papaya) of coconut-based cropping systems was the most profitable among the others. It also showed that increase in the cost of inputs and decrease in the production level greatly affect the profitability of the crops.
