Abstract: BAYBAY, CONEY LYN B. and VILLADOLID, JIANELLA J. On-line Computer-Aided Instruction for Fluid Mechanics Using Multimedia. Undergraduate Special Problem Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2004. Adviser: Mr. Simeon E. Daez. The study aimed to develop an on-line computer-aided instruction for fluid mechanics using multimedia. It was conducted help the students to learn more effectively, to motivate the learners and to gain knowledge about the subject matter. It helps the students to understand the previous topic missed or even the next lesson to be discussed. The study serves as a useful teaching aid to the instructor to teach the lessons more effectively. It will be run through the INTERNET. The beneficiary of the software is the instructor and students taking up the subject fluid mechanics at College of Engineering and Information technology. The scripting language that was used in the On-line Computer-Aided Instruction for Fluid Mechanics Using Multimedia software is the Hypertext Pre-processor (PHP), MYSQL as the database, Hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML), Apache as server, notepad and Macromedia. The paradigm that the proponents used is the Fourth Generation Technique (4GT). When it comes to database query, data manipulation, spreadsheet capability, screen interactions and definitions, report generation and high-level graphics capability the 4GT design paradigm provides the software. The developers believed that the 4GT paradigm is one of the easiest ways of creating interactive software. To have an overview of the over-all structured design of the program architecture the developers used both Hierarchical Input Process Output (HIPO) and the Input Process Output (IPO) chart. This software, On-line Computer-Aided Instruction on Fluid Mechanics is an educational tool of the instructor and students of Fluid Mechanics of College of Engineering and Information Technology. The software meets all the objectives, the software that the proponents developed, is a lecture and reference on Fluid Mechanics that can be run through the INTERNET. It presented different lessons on Fluid Mechanics because the proponents gather data to complete the lesson for the subject. After the gathering of lessons the proponents start to develop a software that is a reference and lecture on Fluid Mechanics. Every chapter of the lesson has a drill that will test if the user learns something. The software is a supplementary tool that allows the user to understand the lesson on their own because they have all the privilege on how they will easily understand the lesson, they have their own choice. The product will motivates the students to learn more effectively and to gain knowledge about the subject matter because the software has pictures that are moving and colored. The software will serve as a useful teaching aid to the instructor to teach the lessons more effectively.
