Abstract: PRADO, MARICEL MARQUEZ. "Analysis of the Philippine Leading Traditional and Non-traditional Exports," B.S. Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Economics, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 1998. Adviser: Dr. Alice T. Valerio. This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of the Philippine's leading exports; and ascertain the factors affecting the value of exports. Secondary data from 1970 to 1996 were utilized in this study. Data were obtained from the Bureau of Export Trade Promotion (BETP), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), National Statistics Office (NSO), Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) and the Central Bank of the Philippines (CBP). Data were analyzed using the trend analysis and the multiple regression analysis. Based from the results of the analysis, there was a rapid transformation in the structure of the Philippine exports. It has shifted towards the export manufactures. Traditional exports has declined tremendously while the non-traditional products has increased. Using the full model regression method, only the general price index was significantly related with the value of exports while EO 470- the Rationalization of the Tariff Structure had no effect on the value of exports. The general price index registered a positive relationship. However, using the stepwise regression method two variables were significantly related to the value of exports. These were the foreign exchange rate and the general price index. In addition to the general price index, the foreign exchange rate had a positive relationship with the value of exports. EO 470 still had no effect on the value of export. There is a great change in the structure of the Philippine exports, from the traditional products to the non-traditional exports. To help boost export performance, there should strategy of coordination maintained. be a proper support on the long-term export product and market diversification and closed between the government agencies should be
