ARROJADO, IVAN KENT L., and ANDANAR, GINER A. SUHAY: A Mixed-use Disaster-Resilient Recovery Center for Pandemic and Calamity Response. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Architecture. College of Engineering and Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. July 2022. Adviser: Arch. Mon Jekris Serviño.
This study was conducted from August to June 2022 in Trece Martires City, Cavite, for the proposal of a mixed-use disaster-resilient recovery center. The general objective of the study was to design a recovery center that will promote preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery about disaster and pandemics and will provide educational, training, and simulation facilities. Specifically, the study aimed to: (1) establish site criteria to assess the allotted sites compliance; (2) formulate the design concept and design philosophy that will serve as guide in conceptualizing the design and function of the proposed mixed-use disaster resilient recovery center; (3) determine the appropriate design consideration for the proposed recovery center; (4) identify the facilities and specific design features for functional efficiency of the buildings; and (5) provide architectural works such as architectural drawings (floor plans, elevations, and sections), fully rendered drawings comprising of conceptual sheet, perspectives, and site development plan. The researchers enlist the factors to be considered in designing the project, these were: laws and ordinances, orientation., circulation and zoning, accessibility & visibility, natural light and ventilation, durability over aesthetics, landscaping, spatiality, flexibility, safety & security, and availability of materials. The factors are then analyzed and investigated; thus, the proponents have concluded the design strategies that were applied to the project.
