Abstract: BAYOBAY, CHARMAE R., BORNASAL, TRESHA MAE Q., GORGONIO, LYN NOELLE R., REYES, JIVINA F., SANTOS, CHRYSTAL M. The English Language Learning Strategies of Selected BAELS students of Cavite State University in Online Learning and its Influence on their Social Language Skills. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Janina Odette S. Vidallon, LPT. The study was conducted to investigate how students' usage of the English language and its connection to their attitude toward their interpersonal capabilities can target an influence on social language skills. As a result, the thesis of this study poses a hypothesis about how English language learning strategies on online learning can target an influence on social language skills. While it is essential to acknowledge the unprecedented challenges that the global health crisis poses to the educational system in the Philippines, it is also essential to understand that these social changes have a significant impact on the English language and the use of English in social contexts. For this reason, the researchers aim to fill the gap in research that investigates students' learning strategies in language learning amidst the Covid-19 crisis in selected students of Cavite State University-Main Campus, College of Arts and Sciences under the program of Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies. In accordance with these rationale premises of decreased literacy, introduction of new words, epistemology, axiology, and anthology, these studies and data are primarily focusing on the macro aspects, such as the implementation of new policies and new curricula (Logel et al., 2021), which postulates the need to know how students may employ learning a language, specifically in the context of COVID19. This study utilized a descriptive quantitative design and conducted a survey as their method for the data gathering procedure. Based on the results, most respondents are 20 - 25 years old in respondents' age profiles, and the year and section profiles of respondents are BAELS 4-3. Meanwhile, the strategies of BAELS students in English language findings revealed and concluded an "Often" response. Respondents also highlighted and gave importance to "listening to teachers' instructions in virtual English classes". On the other hand, the language learning strategies helped students in virtual classes findings revealed and concluded a "Very High" response Respondents also highlighted and gave importance to the "marking the words that I don't understand and look for their meaning". Moreover, as the Social Language Skills affects language learning strategies in virtual classes, findings revealed and concluded that social language skills has significant effects on the language learning strategies in virtual classes of selected BA in English Language Studies students of Cavite State University. The results prompt the researchers to recommend that the social language skills may have different language learning strategies for virtual English classes of selected BA in English Language Studies students at Cavite State University. Withal, prior research for a comparative study with wider scope may also suggest pursuing another result. Keyword: English Language Learning strategies, Online Learning, Social Language Skills.
