Abstract: AMAGO, HAROLD ANTHONY S. and CAMITAN, KENANIAH M. Improvement of an Indirect Injection Diesel Engine Instructional Trainer. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Industrial Technology, major in Automotive Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2021. Adviser: Prof. Richard V. Dela Pena. The diesel engine is becoming popular nowadays. Diesel Engines, like other internal combustion engines, require an exhaust system, a cooling system, and a starting system. Because of the usually high compression ratios, diesel engines need a powerful starting system. Diesel engines had been popular to power plants for large vehicles such as buses, trucks, and ships. The improvement of a diesel engine trainer was constructed using the following methods: canvassing and purchasing, polishing the disassembled engine: reconditioning the engine: repainting the frame: testing and evaluating. The engine was mounted on the frame facing the radiator and mounted on two rubber engine supports, while flat bars under the oil pan and flywheel were added to increase the stability of the engine. The panel gauge was mounted on the top of the acrylic to ensure the difference between the mechanical and electronic gauge. The project focused mainly on the observation of different engine systems and basic diesel engine troubleshooting. Electronic and analog gauges were provided to allow students to see the difference between electronic and mechanically operated gauges. All banana plugs were positive load; no grounds were installed to avoid short circuits if the trainers make mistake in the auto engine electrical activity. The project provided to be effective for providing knowledge about diesel engine principles and components to automotive students. It will open new opportunities for students in enhancing their skills in diesel engine diagnosis by conducting actual activities provided by the trainer and familiarizing basic diesel engine troubleshooting.
