Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2012. Adviser: Nenita Panaligan, RN, MAN. The study was conducted at Cavite Center for Mental Health (CCMH), Trece Martirez City, Cavite, from October 2011 to March 2012. It aimed to: determine pre- existing mental status of selected schizophrenic patients; determine the different cognitive managements for schizophrenic patients being utilized/used; determine if the three cognitive managements tested among schizophrenic patients are effective: determine which of the three tested cognitive managements is the most effective based on the changes on the mental status of schizophrenic patients comparing the pre and post observation; identify the problems encountered during the implementation of cognitive managements in terms of (a) time management; and (b) patient’s condition. The samples of the study were 12 schizophrenic patients confined at CCMH which were pre-selected and approved by the institution. The therapies were conducted in four days. The first day included the pre observation of the mental health status and the last day included the post observation of the mental health status. Primary data were gathered through observation, mental health status exam and questionnaire. The result of the study shows that the most effective tested cognitive management among schizophrenic patients confined at CCMH was Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (first), Counseling (second) and Psychotherapy (third). The study will benefit the schizophrenic patient’s family, medical students,psychiatrists, caregivers and researchers. This will provide information on the different therapeutic managements for schizophrenic patients and a baseline information for any future studies that may be conducted in identifying the different approaches and therapeutic managements for schizophrenic patients.
