Abstract: VALDEZ, LESTER JOHN M. Perceived Effectiveness of Psychology Circle and the Social Skills Levels of its Members. Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite April 2010: Ms. Alma Fatima R. Reyes. The study was entitled Perceived Effectiveness of Psychology Circle and the Social Skills Levels of its Members. The study aimed to 1.) determine the perceived effectiveness level of Psychology Circle towards self confidence, communication skills and leadership skills; 2.) determine the social skills levels in terms of self confidence, communication skills and leadership skills; and 3.) determine the significant relationship between perceived effectiveness of Psychology Circle to the development of social skills of the Psychology Circle members. The respondents of the study were the Bachelor of Science in Psychology students of Cavite State University. The use of percentage and Slovin’s formula defined the 191 respondents. The instrument used was lifted and modified from the unpublished thesis Cruz (2009), and from a book of Social Psychology by Rathus and Nevid (1995). The instrument for the effectiveness test was composed of 33 items and the second instrument was the Social Skills Rating Scale composed of 25 items which were divided into 3 categories. The results revealed that the majority of the respondents alleged that the Psychology Circle has a moderate effect on the level of social skills in terms of self confidence, communication skills and leadership skills. It was indicated that Psychology Circle has above average effect to the level of self confidence, has average effect to the level of communication skills and has average effect to the level of leadership skills. Results also revealed that there are more freshman students than higher years: sophomore, junior, senior and irregular students; members of Psychology Circle. Also the majority of the respondents were teenagers ages from 16 to 19. In this school year, the majority of the respondents were female, with one year membership. Lastly, findings also revealed that there was significant relationship in Perceived Effectiveness of Psychology Circle and the Social Skills Levels of its Members.
