PEREA, JESSICA M. & PINAS, RICHELLE G. Assessment of Wellness and Recreation Program in Trece Martires City Provincial Jail: Basis for the Development of Wellness and Extension Program. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Physical Education. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. December 2018. Adviser: Mrs. Jasmin. P. Cubillo.
This study was conducted to assess and determine if there is an ongoing program for wellness and recreation for the inmates in Trece Marties City Provincial Jail. Likewise, it also aimed to provide recommendations on the improvement of existing programs.
Various statistical analysis tools such as percentage, frequency, count, mean, standard deviation, and ANOVA were utilized. Sixty seven police personnel and sixty seven inmates participated in the study and answered the summary questionnaire.
Majority of the participants (police personnel and inmates) were 26 to 40 years old, and been staying in the service and in jail for 1-5 years. The assessment of the police personnel differ from that of the inmates because police personnel had better evaluation on the available programs.
Several wellness and recreation programs were reported to be available. Among these were Zumba, basketball, and volleyball. Likewise, inmates reported that they prefer to do these activities in the early morning. Participants also reported that there were limited facilities and equipment for these wellness and recreation programs.
