Benchmarking refers to the process of comparing the performance of an organization with a standard. This study will apply one of the benchmarking techniques available, which is the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). DEA is a fionfier method on linear programming techniques for assessing the organizations comparative efliciencies.
This study uses DEA benchmarking method to determine efficiency measures of 54 motorcycle shops in Cavite. Next, the study describes the status of motorcycle industry in Cavite, the business profile and its selling practices. The study also determined the fioutiers among motorcycle shops in Cavite.
Then the data from each motorcycle shops were defined and computed and the observed outcomes are analyzed. Market performance of motorcycle industry was also discussed in the study as well as the problems encountered by the managers in the operation of their businesses. The study also covers the determination of the efficient and inefficient motorcycle shops as well as well evaluation 0f the relationship of inputs (years of operation, number of employees, discount, hours of operation, downpayment and manager’s experience),to the output( estimated motorcycle sold per month). Finally, the conclusions are presented.
