The study was conducted from January to March 2013 with 38 participants ages 21- 64 in selected cities and municipalities of Cavite, namely: Bacoor, Cavite City, General Trias, Naic, Rosario, Tanza, Trece Martires City. The following statistical treatments were used to answer specific problems and to test the hypotheses of the study: frequency, percentage distribution, mean weight; standard deviation; and Pearson Product — Moment Correlation Coefficient. Results revealed that most of the participants are between the ages of 35 to 42 years old (65.8%), female (94.7%), married (89.5%), hold an item of Nurse II (52.6%),BSN graduates (97.4%), and have served the community for more than ten years (76.3%). The management function and supervisory functions of public health nurses were negatively related to age but was positively related to sex, designation, and length of service. Nursing care provision was positively related to the designation of the PHN. Collaboration and coordination, and health promotion and education were positively related to designation and collaboration and coordination. Training and research function was positively related to sex and length of service. Finally, the socio-demographic profile of the participants was not significantly related to their professional responsibility and accountability. It was also revealed that age and educational background were positively related to the level of job performance of the public health nurse. Findings show that the level of competency of public health nurses in terms of their function as a supervisor, nursing care provider, collaborator and coordinator, health promoter and educator, trainer and researcher, and their professional responsibility and accountability were significantly related to the level of job performance.
