Federico, Glaiza Mae C. and Kapangyarihan, Kim T. Parents’ Perception of Programs for Child At Risk in Barangay Sto. Cristo, Dasmarinas Bagong Bayan Area-1.Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2010. Adviser: Ms. Susan Tan.
This study is a descriptive research on the parents’ perception of programs for child at risk in Barangay Sto. Cristo, Dasmarinas Bagong Bayan Area-1.
This aimed at knowing the parents’ perception of programs for child at risk in barangay. The purpose of the study is to discourage the children in committing an offense giving them opportunity to improve their talents and skills needed for the development of their personality.
This study uses standard deviation (SD) which identifies the distance of scores from the mean. The result in each table has the corresponding percentage and mean.
Findings shows that all of the programs are “very effective”. Furthermore the batong sandigan program was the most effective among all other programs containing the
highest mean of about 4.5.
Based on established findings, the researchers conclude that all programs are very effective in lessening the number of children at risk. This result was obtained because the children not only participate in the programs but also enjoy joining in the programs to keep them away from criminal acts. The researchers also concluded that the batong sandigan program is the most effective among all other programs because it benefited both the parents and the children by providing them the things they need in school. Because of this program, children have avoided actions like teasing, discrimination and laziness in going to school.
