Abstract: ARMIJO, JOANNA MARIE S. Health and Social Conditions as Predictors of Psychological Well-Being of Selected Senior Citizens in Trece Martires City, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis.Bachelor of Science in Psychology.Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. April 2013. Adviser: Cecilia B. Banaag, PhD. This study was conducted to determine whether the levels of health and social conditions serve as predictors of psychological well-being of senior citizens in Trece Martires City, Cavite. This study used descriptive correlational research method to describe and to know the relationship of the given variables. The respondents of this study were selected senior citizens in Trece Martires City, Cavite. This study used stratified random sampling to equally group the participants in different strata and systematic random sampling to identify the individual participant. Findings revealed that the senior citizens had an average level of physical appearance, current physical condition, involvement in different organizations and socio-economic status. Moreover,they obtained a very high level of family relationship and they had high level on the six dimensions of psychological well-being, namely: autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relation with other, purpose in life and self-acceptance. In contrast, they had low level of participation in recreational activities. Moreover, results showed that physical appearance is not correlated with any dimensions of psychological well-being and current physical condition is significantly related to autonomy, environmental mastery and self-acceptance. In terms of their social conditions, involvement in different organizations had significant relationship with autonomy, environmental mastery, purpose in life and self-acceptance, participation in recreational activities was correlated with environmental mastery, personal growth. positive relation with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance, socio-economic status was significantly related with autonomy, environmental mastery and personal growth and family relationship had significant relationship with autonomy, environmental mastery. positive relation with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance. Finally, results revealed that family relationship is a good predictor of autonomy, environmental mastery, positive relation with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance. Participation in recreational activities is a good predictor of environmental mastery. personal growth, positive relation with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance. Involvement to different organizations is a good predictor of autonomy and self- acceptance. Another predictor of autonomy is socio-economic status and another predictor of self-acceptance is current physical condition.

Finally, results revealed that family relationship is a good predictor of autonomy, environmental mastery, positive relation with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance.

Participation in recreational activities is a good predictor of environmental mastery. personal growth, positive relation with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance.
Involvement to different organizations is a good predictor of autonomy and self- acceptance. Another predictor of autonomy is socio-economic status and another predictor of self-acceptance is current physical condition.
