Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication Major in Journalism. Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. March 2010. Adviser: Mrs. Roselle Rea G. Salinas. The study sought to determine the readiness and capability of CvSU to offer other majorships under the BAMC program. Specifically, it aimed to document the current status of CvSU in different areas such as Faculty, Curriculum, Student Services, Research, Library, Physical Facilities and Administration. Also, the readiness was aimed to be determined using the AACUP Instrument for Communications. For capability, the CHED requirement for Communication programs was used as basis of comparison. The majorship under the BAMC program CvSU is most capable of offering was also aimed to identify. A descriptive research was utilized to determine the readiness and capability of CvSU to offer other majorships under the BAMC program. To determine the readiness, the current status of CvSU in the mentioned areas were rated using a 5-point scale (5-Excellent; 4- Very Satisfactory; 3- Satisfactory; 2- Fair; and 1- Needs Improvement) using the AACCUP Accreditation Instrument for Communication as basis. Using the same scale, the capability of CvSU to offer other majorships was rated with the aid of the CHED requirements for AB Communication and AB Broadcasting, respectively. Ratings were provided with justification. Interviews with the DLMC Chair, a representative of the faculty and a student leader were conducted to aid in the justification of each rating given to each entry of the said areas. All data were gathered from December 2009 to February 2010 at CvSU-Main campus. After conduct of the study, it was found that based on the AACCUP Accreditation Instrument, CvSU is 80.64 percent ready to offer other majorships under the BAMC program. Based on the CHED requirement, CvSU is 59.68 percent capable to offer AB Communication, 55.68 percent capable to offer BS Development Communication, and 42.2 percent capable to offer AB Broadcasting. CvSU is most capable of offering AB Communication.
