Abstract: BAWAR JAYMART D. and NUESTRO JOHN LOUIE E. Development of Touchscreen and Zigbee Based Library Operation System. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electronics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Mr. Ronald E. Aran. The study was conducted from January 2018 to April 2018 at Brgy. Sicat, Alfonso, Cavite to develop a touchscreen and zigbee based library operation system for easier transactions. Specifically, it aimed to 1. design the touchscreen and zigbee based library operation system; 2. construct the design project touchscreen and zigbee based library operation system; 3. test the functionality of the project; and 4. evaluate the design project in terms of functionality, aesthetics, workability, durability, economy and safety. The design project parts are the touchscreen LCD arduino shield and fingerprint readers which are the primary component. The touchscreen has three commands, borrow, return and register. On the other side, the fingerprint reader keeps the records of the borrowers. The structure and the design of the system consist of two stages, the transmitter and receiver. The function of the Transmitter is for the remote communication between the user and the receiver through the zigbee module communication standard. The controller will continuously check the inputs coming from the user through touchscreen driver and transmits the data through the microcontroller to the database. The microcontroller is connected to different devices like barcode scanner and finger print reader which can identify the books which are to be borrowed and the user who borrows the book. The records will be held by the database which saves the data of the book and the person who borrowed it. Records will be cleared after returning the book and log through fingerprint. After the conducting evaluation in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology by Electronics Technology students, Electrical Technology students, Electrical Engineering students and instructors, the overall computed mean based on the result of the evaluation garnered 4.70 with a descriptive rating of very satisfactory. This result shows that the project is highly acceptable by the different evaluators meeting quality expectations.
