Abstract: ABSTRACT DOMINGUEZ, MIA DEMCA S. and TAPIA, CHARMAYN S. Academic Stress, Performance Level and Coping Strategies among Engineering Students of Cavite State University- Main. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Thesis adviser: Ms. Mary Joyce B. Eyaya. This study was done to examine the relationship between academic stress and performance level of the Engineering students. Generally, this aimed to: 1. determine the academic stress level among Engineering students; 2. find out the performance level of Engineering students; 3. assess the coping strategies needed by the Engineering students; and 4. evaluate the relationship of the academic stress and performance level among Engineering students. This study utilized the stratified- random sampling method of data gathering. Participants included 344 students from Engineering courses in Cavite State UniversityMain Campus. Each participant completed a series of self-report measures including the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA) and Academic Coping Strategies Scale (ACSS). In addition, participants reported their estimated cumulative GPAs. Results found out that worry about grades and workload are the most common academic stressors perceived by students. Results also revealed that self- expectation is not a contributor to the academic stress of the engineering students. Further, results revealed that the grades of the Engineering students fall on the criteria of "good" which has a range of 2.25 and 1.76. The results also show that "approach" is the most common coping strategy used. It also concluded that academic stress is related to the performance level of the students
