The study was conducted in selected areas of Cavite namely Imus City, Dasmarinas City, Trece Martires City, Indang, and Carmona, Cavite from November 2014 to February 2015. Stratified proportional random sampling was used to determine the samples size from each area. Data used in the study were obtained from 130 participants. Findings from the study revealed that the participants had an average household size of five, two income-earners, and two dependents. The average annual discretionary income of households amounted to P 107,887. The households considered discretionary items slightly important and moderately pleasurable. The households considered using their discretionary income slightly more on utility and occasionally for pleasure and self-gratification. The households practiced also a non-simple consumption and slight materialism on their lifestyle and most of them had their lifestyle based on their financial ability. Most of households saved their excess income. The findings also shows that there is significant relationship between the amount of discretionary income and some selected socio economic characteristics such as number of income-earners, age, and educational attainment.
