Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Business Economics. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. October 2015. Adviser Dr.Nelia C. Cresino.
A study was conducted to determine the academic performance of students of Cavite State University with migrant parents. It was conducted from July to October 2015 among 260 students of Cavite State University with migrant parents.
Frequency count, mean, percentage, and range were used to present the socio- economic characteristics of students with migrant parents; time allocation; and socio- economic characteristics of parents.
Multiple regression was used to ascertain the significant relationship between academic performance of students with migrant parent/s and the socio-economic characteristics of students, socio-economic characteristics of their parents, and time allocation to different activities.
Majority of the participants were 18 to 20 years old, female, and 2™ year. Twenty-nine percent of the participants had scholarships. Furthermore, the participants had an average of weekly allowance of P811 and household size of 5. Most of the parents of students were married. Majority of the mothers were high school graduates and household service workers abroad while majority of the fathers were college graduates and worked as laborer abroad. Households’ monthly income ranged from P6,000 to P160,000 or an average of P24,028.85.
