Specifically, it aimed to determine the demographic profile of postpartum mothers in terms of age, educational attainment, civil status, religion, ethnic group, working status and family type; determine obstetric profile of mothers such as OB score, days postpartum, duration of labor, delivery setting and person facilitated the delivery; determine the traditional postpartum behaviors performed by mothers and common health problems related to these traditional postpartum behaviors. The researchers utilized the descriptive research method. The participants of this study were one hundred (100) mothers who were in their first to second month of postpartum period from the selected barangays in Indang, Cavite. This study used a self-made questionnaire, that was pretested on June 11, 2014 to ten (10) mothers as participants in Rural Health Unit, Indang, Cavite. Two weeks after the pre-test, post-test was given on June 25, 2614 to assess the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. . Based on the result, majority of the respondents were from the age bracket 25 to 29 years old. Most of the postpartum mothers are single. College graduate is the highest educational attainment earned by most of the respondents. In general, most of the traditional postpartum behaviors of the participants were avoiding places exposed to wind after giving birth, often drinking warm water within one month after giving birth, often staying home within 30 to 40 days after giving birth and often wearing a pair of socks. They were breastfeeding, wearing of pajamas after giving birth and having hot soups after giving birth. Findings also revealed that there are three factors in the obstetric profile affecting the mothers to practice postpartum behaviours. These are the type of delivery, place of delivery and the person who facilitated the delivery. The most common health problem experienced by the postpartum mothers have experienced problem while the suture at the perineal area was healing, although it was not a problem There is a significant relationship between the obstetric profile of mothers and the traditional postpartum behaviors. It is recommended that the primary health care providers like the barangay health personnel have to give emphasis on the standard postpartum care to avoid complications since they are the ones who are directly interacting with the persons in the community most specially with postpartum women through health teachings and seminars.
