Abstract: Cortez, Carlito Atterado, Don Severino Agricultural College, April 1981. "Luksuhin Livestock Auction Market: A Case Study." Adviser: LIrs. Constancia G. Cueno. This study was conducted to know the organizational and operational set-up of Luksuhin Livestock Auction Market. Its specific objectives were to: 1) determine the number of personnel of the auction market and the function of each; 2) determine the steps, costs and returns of operation, and sources of livestock offered for sale in the auction market; 3) identify the problem encountered in the operation of the market. The market personnels were interviewed and the past records of the market were used as data. The market consisted of 12 personne], the auction market manager, the assistant auction market manager, gate manager, market technician, livestock inspector, weighmaster, yard manager, auctioneer, treasurer and clerk/helper. The market operated once a week, during Londay from 4:00 o'clock in the morning to 12:00 noon. The capital outlay of the market was P98,000. The market spent a total expenditure of P2,530.00, and gained a net return of P53,000.00. The auctioning operations were inspection of animals, weighing, grading and numbering bidding, and documentation of animals. The livestock traders came from Alfonso, General Aguinaldo, Tagaytay City, Kagallanes and nearby towns of Batangas. The major problems encountered by the market were: lack of personnel in the market, lack of knowledge on auctioning on the part of buyers and sellers, lack of cooperation among sellers and buyers; presence of many middlemen in the market, and inadequacy of facilities.
